  • 1)Cut cauliflower into small flowerets.
  • 2)Put these pieces in boiling water by adding 1/4 tsp salt, turmeric powder, dry red chilly and leave it covered for 5 min.
  • 3)Remove the cauliflowers which float on top to a separate vessel to ensure that the rest of the flowerets are clean.
  • 4)Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When they pop, add black gram. When it`s roasted, add the washed cauliflower.
  • 5)Add green gram, 1/4 tsp salt, 2 tbsp of water and cook it covered in low heat, stirring occasionally to see if it is fully cooked and soft.
  • 6)Finally, add grated coconut if required.

    When J started this, I realized that,It`ll not be good. I had to make a Masala, using onions & tomatoes. then I added cauliflower (of course clean) into it. & cooked it.

    This recipe uses grated coconut, urad dal and mustard seeds in the tadka....it doesnt belong in the North Indian section. Does anyone screen the recipes before they are put on this site?
