Chicken Coconut Malai Curry


Chicken - 500 gm
(cut into pieces)
Onions(chopped) - 2 - 3 nos
Coconut milk - 1 cup
Mustard powder - 1 tsp
Cumin(Jeerakam) powder - 1 tsp
(finely chopped)
(finely chopped)
Malai or thick cream - 3 tsp
Lemon juice - 2 tsp


Step 1. Heat oil in a pan.
Step 2. Fry the cloves for few seconds.
Step 3. Add chopped ginger, garlic and fry for a minute.
Step 4. Add chopped onions, chilly powder, coriander powder, mustard powder, cumin powder, turmeric and fry until the onions turn brown.
Step 5. Add chicken pieces, salt, coconut milk and lower the flame. Cook until the pieces are tender.
Step 6. When the gravy is thickened, add thick cream, stir and remove from heat.
Step 7. Sprinkle lemon juice.
Step 8. :- Serve hot with plain rice or pulao rice.

Nos is short form for "numbers". 3 Nos chillies means 3 chillies.


I`m sorry, I haven`t tried to make this yet, so please don`t take into account my rating. I was wondering, what is a nos? I have never heard of that measurement before. I saw cups listed, those I`m familiar with, but never a "nos". Thank you

My husband usually dont eat chicken I have a tough time forcing him to eat it but believe me this is the only curry he will eat pleasently without even leaving a bit for me. Everyone should try this im sure u wont be dissapointed

I make this recipe often and it turns out good everytime. I do a little variations by adding potato cubes or green onions sometimes


It was very good, I just needed it to be a lot spicier.
