    Directions
to make Chinese Easy Gobi Manchurian
    :
  • For frying the gobi:- 1)Clean the florets and put them in hot water for about half an hour with salt so that worms, if any, would settle at the bottom of the vessel.
  • 2)Mix together the maida, corn flour and salt in a bowl.
  • 3)Pour sufficient amount of water to get a bajji batter consistency.
  • 4)Put the florets in this batter and mix well.
  • 5)Heat oil in a pan.
  • 6)Add the florets little by little and fry them all.
  • 7)Drain them out and keep aside.
  • For making the manchurian:- 1)Heat 1 tsp of oil in a frying pan.
  • 2)Add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, julienned onions, diced capsicum and chopped ginger and garlic.
  • 3)Saute for 2 minutes so that the onions and capsicum are still crunchy.
  • :- The large onion pieces and the diced capsicum pieces will be very tasty in this dish.
  • 4)Add the red chilly sauce, green chilly sauce, tomato sauce, soya sauce, vinegar, ajinomoto and salt to taste.
  • 5)Saute for a minute.
  • :- If u do not have these sauces, then substitute red chilly sauce, green chilly sauce and tomato sauce with 3 tsp of tomato-chilly sauce. :- Add very little ajinomoto just to get the Chinese flavor, since its a carcinogen.
  • 6)Add the fried cauliflower to this and saute, until the masala and the florets get fried together nicely.
  • 7)Remove from pan to a serving dish.
  • :- Serve hot.
  • Variation:- Can use the same recipe to make mushrooms/baby corn manchurian as well.

Of course Gobi Manchurian is a delicious dish. But just seen a comment from 1 Lakshmi saying "Indians are fools" but dear Lakshmi all Indians are not fools only few fools may be like you .By saying fools you insulting your family itself. Being in China is nothing great only people with nice character always counted.

`Ajinomoto` or `Chinese salt`is the brand name for `monosodium glutamate`(MSG).Yes,it`s supposed to be harmfull.Chinese food in India is entirely different to Chinese fare in UK,where I live now.But both r tasty & have adapted to the taste of the home country.Lakshmi, even good old `table salt` is unhealthy, but we continue to use it.Most of us don`t make Chinese stuff daily,so a small bit of MSG won`t kill us.And don`t act like some `Know It All` on Chinese food & make dumb statements.Sujee, nice recipe!

hi guys!! thanks for the comments. Lakshmi if u dont wannu use ajinomoto, just dont use it...its that simple. dont get aggitated by silly things like these......ajino` is ofcourse not good for health if used in large quantities, but it does give an added flavour to the chinese recipes though. I am a frequent traveller to different countries and all chinese restaurants do use ajinomoto as far i know. thanks you guys.....happy cooking :)

Delicious!Lakshmi, living in China does`nt make u Non Indian. As a professional chef,I can say that each place has it`s own variations in cooking.Perhaps ajinomoto`s not used in China, but it`s still used as a flavouring agent throughout the world in Oriental cooking.Yes,I agree that it`s unhealthy(as Sujee herself says). But table salt & rock salt which`s used in all the fashionable restaurants worldwide are equally harmful. The secret lies in moderation. There`s no need to get abusive & use sweeping statements on all Indians.China most certainly has`nt done much for your manners!

This recipe is good. I made it & came out well. Thanks for the recipe. BTW, U r right! Ajinomotto is not good for health. Its good not to use too much of it. I enquired a few chinese & they told that they have almost stopped using it now because of its bad effects on us.

Ajinomoto isn`t a carcinogen. Till now itsn`t proven. It is nothing but a myth that it is a carcinogen. If it indeed is a carcinogen, won`t u think the Chinese population who use it everyday in their cooking would have perished by now?
