    to make Kerala Varutharacha Meen Curry

  • 1)Clean the fish well and cut them into pieces.
  • 2)Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • 3)Splutter mustard seeds.
  • 4)Add ginger, green chillies and curry leaves and sautT well.
  • 5)Add coriander powder, chilly powder and turmeric powder and sautT well.
  • 6)Add sufficient water, salt and kukum star and mix well.
  • 7)Cover and allow it to boil.
  • 8)When the gravy starts to thicken, add the fish pieces and allow it to cook.
  • 9)When the fish too is cooked and the gravy is thick enough, remove from the flame.
  • 10)Sprinkle the fenugreek powder on top and stir the vessel a little so that it gets spread all over the gravy.
  • :- Do not use a ladle or spoon as there are chances of breaking the fish pieces while doing so.

    Easy and yummy!!! The fenugreek addition in the last stage totally changed the taste of the curry. It was fun cooking and thanks a lot for sharing.

    Good recipe..varatharacha curry means some roasted coconut or roasted spices. Instead of kudampuli try tamarind.

    Varutharacha meen curry-Add coconut,coriander,redchilly,oomam,Chukku(dry ginger) Add oil in a pan and fry all items up to browen colour, seprate the mix and cool,then graind all to as paste with needed water,then mix kadampuly or tamarin with salt in a cup of water and extract,In a pan or pot add the coconut mixur paste,then add the puly &salt extract as needed add suff water and stir well,allow it to boil for 5 to 10 mints then add the fish pieces,cook it as your thick enough

    The meaning of varutharacha is something you fry and blend as a mixture or so. In this case nothing like coconut or some coriander or red chilly is mixed. I do not find it as a varutharacha meen curry. It is a simple curry.

    Varutha aracha meen curry means we add fried coconut or fried grated coconut anything like that, but here u didnt mention anything so how come its varutharacha meencurry...its just a fish curry.
