Parippu (Dal) Curry

Ingredients

Red gram(Thuvaraparippu/Sambar parippu) - 1 cup
Small onions(Kunjulli) - 3 - 4 nos
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup

DIRECTIONS

Step 1. Soak dal in water.
Step 2. Cook dal along with chopped small onions, tomato, salt, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and green chillies.
Step 3. Blend coconut very well adding enough water.
Step 4. Pour it into the cooked Dal.
Step 5. Place it on the stove on a low flame.
Step 6. When it begins to boil, remove from the flame.
Step 7. :- Do not boil it further.
Step 8. Heat oil in another pan.
Step 9. Splutter mustard seeds and saute a broken red chilly and a few curry leaves.
Step 10. Add the above tempering into the curry.
Step 11. :- Serve with ghee rice.
