  • 1)For preparing spicy gooseberry curry, first heat some oil in a pan and saute gooseberries until cooked. Add shallots and green chillies and fry for a while. Remove the fried gooseberries and keep aside.
  • 2)Meanwhile, grind the ingredients: grated coconut, chilly powder, turmeric, mustard seeds and garlic to a fine paste.
  • 3)Heat the oil and splutter fenugreek and curry leaves.
  • 4)Add the ground masala and fry well until oil accumulates on top.
  • 5)Add fried gooseberries, shallots and green chillies. Pour required tamarind extract, asafoetida powder, vinegar and salt.
  • 6)Boil the curry and simmer till thick and done.
  • 7)Add sugar and remove spicy gooseberry curry from fire.
