Tamil Nadu Chicken Gravy

Tamil Nadu Chicken Gravy

Ingredients

Chicken - 1 kg
Small onions(Kunjulli) - 1 cup
Grated cocount - 1 tbsp
Cinnamon(Karugapatta) - 2 nos
Aniseeds(Perinjeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
Peppercorns - 5 nos

DIRECTIONS

Step 1. Clean chicken and cut into small pieces.
Step 2. Heat oil in a pan.
Step 3. Add green chillies(cut into two halves) and saute for few mins. Keep it aside.
Step 4. In the same pan, add small onions and saute for few mins.
Step 5. Add cinnamom, cloves, cardamom, aniseeds, cumin seeds, poppy seeds and pepper corns one by one and fry them for few mins.
Step 6. Add turmeric and coriander powder and saute.
Step 7. Finally, add coconut and a few coriander leaves.
Step 8. Switch off the flame.
Step 9. Allow it to cool.
Step 10. Grind it along with green chillies into a fine paste.
Step 11. Cut big onion and tomato into small pieces.
Step 12. Heat oil in a pan.
Step 13. Add onion, ginger-garlic paste and fry until it turns golden brown.
Step 14. Add curry leaves.
Step 15. Add tomato and saute till it blends well.
Step 16. Add masala paste and saute for 10 minutes.
Step 17. Add chicken pieces.
Step 18. Cover and cook on low flame till chicken cooks.
Step 19. :- There is no need to add water. If u want, u can add some water to masala that remains in mixer grinder and add that water to chicken and cook.
Step 20. Garnish with coriander leaves.
