  • 1)Boil, peel and cut bananas into roundels.
  • 2)Mix together bananas, chilly powder, half the turmeric, salt and enough water to cook bananas fairly dry.
  • 3)Grind together to a very fine paste, coconut, pepper corns, rest of turmeric and cumin seeds.
  • 4)When bananas are cooked, add ground ingredients, well beaten curd and more salt.
  • 5)Simmer, stirring occasionally till the mixture becomes quite thick (10 -15 minutes). Remove from fire.
  • 6)Heat oil in a pan.
  • 7)Add fenugreek, mustard seeds and broken red chillies.
  • 8)When seeds crackle, add curry leaves and temper the dish.
  • :- Serve as a side dish for plain rice.

    Thanks for the recipe. I made sour curd by keeping the curd in a warm oven for 1 hr after adding few drops of lemon juice. It tastes really good. I made it for onam.

    This is fine as long as you are in India.If you are from a foreign land, Please take care that your curd is sour (puliche thyru upyogikku) or else this recpie goes for a toss
