Step 1

First cube half of the potato and mash the other half.

Step 2

Make a fine paste with onion, ginger and green chillies.

Step 3

Heat oil in a pan and splutter cumin and mustard seeds. Add the ground paste and saute for a few minutes.

Step 4

Now, add turmeric powder, cumin powder, ground tomato paste, red chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix well.

Step 5

Add 1/2 cup of water and stir in boiled potatoes and peas. Cook covered for a few minutes.

Step 6

Garnish with chopped coriander and serve aloo matar hot with roti/chappathy.
