Step 1

Boil the potatoes, till they become tender and cut them into medium sized pieces.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.

Step 3

Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 4

Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.

Step 5

Add chopped onion and fry, till they turn golden brown.

Step 6

Add tomato puree, chilly powder, turmeric powder and saute for 1 min.

Step 7

Add potatoes and salt.

Step 8

Mix well.

Step 9

Add garam masala powder and mix well again.

I really liked this recipe. My mother in law (From kerela) thought it was a little sour but I liked the tomotoe paste touch to it and so did my husband. it was really tasty!
