Step 1

For preparing baked bread pudding, butter the bread and cut it into cubes.

Step 2

Blend milk, eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla essence. Add in the bread cubes and mix well.

Step 3

Pour the egg mixture into a buttered baking dish and sprinkle nutmeg.

Step 4

Place the dish in a pan of hot water and bake it in the oven at 180 degrees celsius(350 degrees F) for 45 minutes to an hour.

Step 5

Insert a knife in the centre. If it comes out clean, remove the dish from the oven.

Step 6

Baked bread pudding is ready. Serve with plain or whipped cream.
