Combine all the ingredients for the marinate in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 - 8 minutes or till it thickens and becomes a sauce.
Remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
Marinate the chicken pieces in the prepared barbeque sauce and keep aside for 3 - 4 hours.
Heat olive oil in a grill pan and cook the marinated chicken pieces on high heat till they turn golden brown on both sides.
Transfer to a baking tray to finish cooking the chicken (approximately 5 minutes on each side).
You can add a little water to the grill pan to remove the remaining marinate and pour it over the chicken pieces in the baking tray.
When the chicken is cooked all the water will dry up.
Serve with salad and garlic bread.
