Step 1

Mix together the finely chopped cabbage, onions, chillies, grated coconut, turmeric powder and salt.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan or a kadai. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.

Step 3

Then add dry red chillies and curry leaves to it.

Step 4

Now add the mixture into the kadai and allow to cook it on low flame.

I think you should include either green/red chilies.Not both.It gets too spicy and its not tasty.

you can also add a tsp of urad dal to the seasoning. My friend has another wonderful idea. That is to separate out the leaves wash it and then spread the leaves on a towel and leave overnite to remove any drop of retained water. Then chop it in a food processor the next day. This definetly tastes delicious as the cabbage is nice and dry and fluffy and not too sticky and mushy.

hi thanks a lot. I tried this recipe and this came out real well. I dont understand why some people in this website crib so mch if the author forgets to mention salt.hey comon no one is nuts not to realise that we hv to add salt to this recipe so why create a hue out of it. comon guys chill and be happy that someone is atleast taking the pains to share their recipes with u. stop complaining and learn to be thankful. I would once again thank pinky for this good recipe.

ill give u a variation to this recipe.try grinding coconut,2 cloves of garlic and 1tsp of jeera and then add it along with the cabbage.

I guess the important thing is that you should not add water to it while cooking and the flame should be very very low.
