Step 1

Cut the stem lengthwise and peel off its¦ outer skin.

Step 2

Clean it well and chop it finely.

Step 3

Add a little salt to it and using your hands, mix it well.

Step 4

Squeeze well enough and discard the thick serum which oozes out while doing so.

Step 5

Place the grated coconut, green chillies, small onions, turmeric powder and curry leaves in a mixer bowl and run it once to make it into a coarse form.

Step 6

Mix together the finely chopped thal and the coconut mixture.

Step 7

Add salt and mix well again.

Step 8

Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.

Step 9

Splutter mustard seeds and sautT dry red chillies and curry leaves.

Step 10

Add the mixture into the pan and mix well.

Step 11

Cover and cook for a few mins.

Step 12

Lower the flame and stir occasionally.

Step 13

When it gets cooked, remove the lid and continue cooking, till done.
