Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken into small pieces.

Step 2

Heat the oil and fry the finely chopped onions, garlic and ginger.

Step 3

Add the spices and cook for a few minutes longer.

Step 4

Add the tomatoes and salt to taste and cook for a further 5 minutes.

Step 5

Put in the chicken pieces and stir so that they are thoroughly coated with the gravy.

Step 6

Cover the vessel and simmer for about 30 minutes at the end of which, the mixture should be almost dry. But you need to check from time to time and add a little water if necessary.

I am yet to try this recipe. from the comments, I am guessing its really good. Just a quick question.. black pepper quantity was mentioned to be 2 ounces. Thats around 10 teaspoons as per Google. Is that accurate?

It came out really tasty..was pretty easy as well. Just one question, I took the full black peppercorns and had to beat them up in a muslin..to crush them, was time consuming, cant we just use black pepper powder instead? Will it be same quantity? Felt like I had to bite too many peppers as was not 100% crushed.

Scrumptious!Just a question...does the recipe refer to Cayenne Pepper powder or the whole fruit chopped up?I used only crushed peppercorns which was also pretty effective. But I would very much like to make the dish as per the recipe.
