Step 1

For preparing chickpeas fougath, soak chickpeas overnight and pressure cook it in salt water.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a vessel and splutter mustard seeds.

Step 3

Add in the curry leaves.

Step 4

Then add in the chickpeas with the water, garlic, tomato, turmeric powder, onion, water, green chillies, salt and grated coconut. Mix well and cook till it becomes dry.

Step 5

Chickpeas fougath is ready. Serve hot as a side dish for rice.
