Step 1

For preparing chickpeas special, boil the chickpeas in salt water with 1/2 tsp turmeric until tender. Drain it and then mash it coarsely. Keep it aside.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a vessel and fry the dried chillies and curry leaves.

Step 3

Add the onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, remaining turmeric, asafoetida, nigella seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds and onion seeds. Saute till the onions become transparent.

Step 4

Toss in the cooked chickpeas and add a little water. Mix it well and allow it to cook gently over low flame for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Pour in the lemon juice.

Step 6

Chickpeas special is ready. Serve hot with parathas.
