Step 1

Saute all ingredients for grinding, in oil: garam masala, kalpasi, curry leaves, ginger, fennel seeds, cummin seeds, coriander seeds, red chillies, poppy seeds, pepper corns, coconut, shallots, garlic, cashew nuts and fried gram dal. Grind to a fine paste.

Step 2

Clean and wash chicken. Cut into small pieces.

Step 3

Heat oil in a kadai and add bay leaf, star anise, garam masala, marathi mokku and fennel seeds. Let it crackle.

Step 4

Add ginger paste and chopped tomatoes. Saute well.

Step 5

Add garam masala powder, salt and previously ground masala. Cook till the raw flavor is gone.

Step 6

Add chicken pieces and cook slowly till tender.

Step 7

Serve hot, garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
