Dry roast red gram, chana dhal, black gram, red chillies and asoefoetida in cooking oil.
Grind this mixture with water into a thick paste.
Add coconut, tamarind and salt and grind it for a few more seconds until all the mixture blends into a smooth paste.
:- Serve Coconut Chutney (Thengai Thigayal) with steamed rice or can be served with dosa(rice pan cakes).
:- Enjoy the Coconut Chutney (Thengai Thigayal). Coconut Chutney is must for dosa in south india.

the chutney came good ,but the amount is not for one adult .u can serve it for minimum 5 adult .i also think more chilly will b needed . anyway thanks for the recipe
