Step 1

In a pan heat the oil, then add mustard seeds.

Step 2

When the mustard seeds start crackling add jeera, urad dal and red chillies one by one.

Step 3

Now add the chopped onions and garlic and fry them till the onion becomes light brown colour and the raw smell of garlic goes out.

Step 4

Add saunf powder and cook for 3 minutes. Then add cooked dal mixture to this.

Step 5

Add chilli powder, Biriyani masala powder and salt and cook them till the raw smell goes

Step 6

When the dal got blended with the spices add the rice and cook for another five minutes. switch off the flame

Step 7

Nice dal masala rice is ready.

Notes :

Saunf powder can be used according to your taste.
