Directions

Step 1

Sieve the maida and soda together.

Step 2

Break the egg into a bowl.

Step 3

Mix together all the ingredients into a firm dough, using a little milk.

Step 4

Make 4 balls off the dough.

Step 5

Roll out each one into a chappathi of half an inch thickness.

Step 6

Cut out with 2 round cutters(1 big and 1 small) so that a small bangle sized ring is formed.

Step 7

Make rings similarly, using the remaining dough.

Step 8

Deep fry them in oil or vanaspati, over a medium flame, till the doughnuts are cooked, crisp and golden.

Step 9

Drain and allow it to cool.

Step 10

:- Store them in an airtight container.

For topping....mix powdered sugar and cinnamon powder well and coat with dough nuts ,OR coat with chocolate cream, or with Confectioners sugar. Will de yummmy like Dunkin donuts...

PLease do notuse sujji and Sal`s suggestion as this doughnut is the storable variety and not the bread like doughnuts which can be eaten with coconut or sugar coating. Both of you please try the recipe before giving any suggestion. The recipe is otherwise excellent, ive tried it many times

Hey thanks. damn good. I made doughnuts as well as used christmas cutters to make well shaped bisuits. keep posting such stuff. they turned out very well. i baked them also. they r OK. frying yields really tasty stuff.. valentine`s day specail to my hubby and kid..

I have`nt yet tried it out...but the recipe sounds really good. I would like to add one more suggested variation. prepare an icing and spread over the doughnuts once u drain them out of oil. for icing: beat together butter, icing sugar n cocoa.

i havnt tried it yet..but sounds really good..i think instead of adding sugar in the dough...u should leave 1/4 of the powdered sugar to sprinkle over the doughnuts as removed from oil....also can slice it horizontally and add and desired creams which we get in stores
