Step 1

Cut the fish in portions, wash, dry and sprinkle with salt and a pinch of turmeric. Set the fish aside.

Step 2

Slice the onions and saute in oil.

Step 3

Add the crushed garlic and grated ginger.

Step 4

Season with salt, turmeric, and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly.

Step 5

Lower the flame and add the fresh tomatoes. Simmer until the tomatoes are reduced to a fairly thick sauce.

Step 6

Add cumin powder, coriander powder, crushed mustards seeds, cloves, cardamom pods, chilly powder to taste and vinegar. Mix thoroughly and simmer for five minutes.

Step 7

When the sauce is prepared, add the portions of fish.

Step 8

Cover and simmer until the fish is cooked through and tender. Care should be taken not to overcook so that the fish does not break up.

Step 9

:- Serve hot on a bed of rice.
