Step 1

For preparing healthy oats upma, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 2

When the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dal, shallots, ginger, red chilly and and curry leaves.

Step 3

When the urad dal is golden brown in color, add soaked oats, required salt and asafoetida.

Step 4

Mix well and cook covered in low flame till done. Stir in between.

Step 5

Now add the grated coconut, mix gently and serve hot.

Step 6

Oats upma, a healthy breakfast recipe for kids as well as elders, is ready.
