A sweet dish made with urad dal, raw rice and other ingredients

Directions

Step 1

For preparing jilebi, soak urad dal and raw rice separately for about one hour.

Step 2

Grind urad dal in a grinder till it becomes frothy.

Step 3

Grind raw rice finely in a mixer grinder.

Step 4

Mix the two and keep aside for 30 minutes.

Step 5

In a kadai heat oil/ghee and make round coils out of the batter into the oil(you can make any shapes of coils, usually it is flower-shaped) and fry till they are crisp and golden in colour. It should not become brown.(For making coils, squeeze the batter through a press).

Step 6

In another kadai, add 2 cups of water and sugar and heat to make a syrup. Add food colour and rose essence.

Step 7

When the fried coils are warm dip them in sugar syrup, leave for 2-3 minutes and take them out.

Step 8

Jilebi, a yummy sweet recipe is ready.
