Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan or a kadai.
Fry the red chillies, till they become dark in colour.
Add onion and fry, till it becomes golden brown.
Add tomato and saute.
Add a little water, if necessary.
Add garam masala.
;- You can substitute it with a spoon full of sambar powder if you don`t like the taste of garam masala.
Add coriander leaves.
Grind them together into a paste.
Garnish with the rest of the coriander leaves.
:- Serve with idlis and dosas.
Jiya did you saute ginger garlic paste along with onion?You used garam masal or sambar powder ? I really wanted to try tomato chutney
I tried this recipe with ginger garlic paste. It is super. This chutney is better than coconut chutney and goes very well with idlis and dosas. My mother in law loved it!!!!!! thanks for the yummy chutney.
