First sieve the baking powder and the all purporse flour together and keep aside Whisk the sugar and butter together till it has a cream consistency Now add one egg at at time and mix well till it blends . Add the flour and baking powder mixture we have prepared in the first step with this cream Add milk and vanilla extract and beat till the batter is smooth. Note:if you have a electric mixer it will be better to make the butter and sugar mixture fluffy. Preheat an oven to 400 degree F Grease the pan in which you plan to bake and pou the batter into this pan. Once the oven has been preheated place the pan in the oven and cook for 15 to 20 mins. To check if it is done, try dipping pokign a toothpick into the cake and if it comes out without any sticky batter then it measn the cake is ready. Keep aside till the cake has cooled down and then turn it over onto the pan /dish for the icing/frosting. Slice the cake horizontally into two portions and spread vanilla custard on one portion and place the other portion on top of it . Then decorate the cake with frosting and be as creative as you like I used food colors to buttercream frosting and did the decoration.
If you have a electric mixer it will be better to make the butter and sugar mixture fluffy. Also for the filling i used Brown and Polson Vanilla Custard mix to make the custard.
