Step 1

Wash kudampuli properly and soak it in a little water for sometime.

Step 2

Mix the fish with pounded(crushed) small onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves and grated coconut.

Step 3

Add kudampuli to the mixture.

Step 4

Add water, just necessary for the fish to be cooked.

Step 5

Pour coconut oil on top and cover the pan.

Step 6

:- Use an earthern pot to get that traditional taste and smell.

Step 7

Put the pot on flame and allow it to cook.

Step 8

After 5 mins, remove from the flame.

Step 9

:- It will take only 5 minutes for the fish to be cooked.
:- There shouldn¦t be any water left, by the time the fish is finally cooked and ready.
:- The ingredients taste better when they are pounded, don¦t cut them using knife.

My recipe is a kottayam style recipe- No crushed whole coriander is needed, u can add garlic as per our recipe- button onions will increase the taste so add as much as u like. I agree there may be regional differences
