Moong Dal Halwa

A classic recipe that is relished throughout Rajasthan during the winter months, as it is supposed to keep the body warm and protect it from the bitter winter cold. It is considered to be auspicious, and is often prepared during Holi, Diwali and weddings too.

  • Soak the moong dal in hot water for 2 hours
  • After 2 Hours Blend it into smooth paste
  • In a pan heat the heat and fry the cashews and raisins
  • In the same ghee add moong dal paste and stir it
  • Stir continuously in low flame for 10 mins
  • add milk and water and stir it for 5 mins
  • now add sugar and stir it
  • once it mixed well, add cardamom powder, dissolve the saffron in milk and add to the halwa, and stir for 10 mins
  • add fried Cashews and raisins and stir it
  • Keep stirring until it thickens and is non-sticky
  • now garnish with remaining cashews and raisins, now moong dal halwa is ready to serve
