Pressure cook tomatoes upto 2 whistles.
Remove the skin of the cooked tomatoes and make it into a puree.
Boil 1 onion and make it into a paste.
Chop the other onion length-wise.
Fry the paneer lightly and keep aside.
Heat 3 tsp of butter in a pan or a kadai.
Fry the chopped onion, until it turns light brown.
Add onion paste, ginger-garlic paste and cashewnut paste and stir for about 3 - 4 mins.
Add garam masala powder and stir for another couple of mins.
Add tomato puree, chilly powder, yogurt and kasuri methi and stir for about 5 mins.
Add paneer, sugar and salt to the mixture and stir for about 3 - 4 mins.
Garnish with 1 tsp of butter, cream and coriander leaves.
* You can increase the quantity of water if you need more gravy.* You can add 500gm tomato passata instead of tomatoes* Alternately you can fry all the onions till light brown and gring to paste.

This recipe is D-VINE. Just because I m a wannabe Indian, and not a real one, I substitute Haloumi for the paneer because I m too lazy to make it - and it is VERY tasty and good!

Also wanted to say that I added a little bit of chilly powder and ommitted adding the cream at the end. And I just browned the paneer in some oil instead of butter. The only time I added butter was at the very end before turning the gas off. Nevertheless, it came out really well.
An excellent recipe for paneer butter masala. I just made it now and felt that I had to rate it immediately ! I had tried making this from different websites desperate to create an authentic paneer masala, just like the ones we get in restaurants. And let me tell u, never was I able to do justice until today. I made it at last !! The kasuri methi is a must-add for this recipe, without which its nearly impossible to get that restuarant taste, so folks, do not attempt to make this unless u have kasuri methi in yr pantry. Thanx very much for this one !

I tried this for the first time when I had some guest.Everybody liked a lot.It was so tasty.I definitely gona make it again.The suggestion from my side is if u are going to follow this recipe u wil be getting a thick gravy.It will be more good if u add a little water to it to make it light.
