Parippu Curry Easy

Parippu or Dal curry

Instructions
 

  • Wash the parippu, until the water is clear.
  • Put parippu in pan and cover with water (water should be 1/2 inch above the lentils.)
  • Add turmeric, half the onion, ginger, cinnamon stick and curry leaves.
  • Cover and boil, until water is absorbed.
  • Take off the flame and place in a bowl.
  • Heat ghee in the pan.
  • Fry the remaining onions & dried red pepper.
  • Cook, until pale golden colour.
  • Combine cooked parippu, the mixture & coconut milk.
  • Return to flame and warm through.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Finish with a squeeze of lime & stir.
  • :- Serve with rice & curries.

    a bit apprehensive abt the use of thick coconut milk. will low-fat milk be a good substitute?

    umm….I live in a city that does not have indian stores. SOoooo…yes there are states many.. i may add…where there is a LOW indian population and therefore no indian stores to buy ghee.

    I think you can substitute water for the coconut milk.
