Step 1

Cake Batter:
1)For preparing pastry chocolate cake, preheat oven at 180 degrees celcius.

Step 2

Sift together the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt. Keep it aside.

Step 3

In a bowl beat butter till it becomes fluffy.

Step 4

Add in sugar slowly in the butter, mixing it till it dissolves.

Step 5

Then add the eggs one by one mixing it well.

Step 6

Slowly add in the maida little by little. Keep mixing it till it becomes smooth lump free batter. Keep it aside.

Step 7

Short Crust Pastry:
7)Put the flour in a bowl and rub in the butter, using your fingertips, the mixture should look like fresh breadcrumbs.

Step 8

Add cold water, 1 tbsp at a time, knead lightly to make a short crust pastry dough(like chappathi).

Step 9

Put the dough in a plastic bag and keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Step 10

Roll the pastry on a floured surface to make a big circle. Place the rolled dough into the tin and trim the edges.

Step 11

Spoon the cake batter onto the pastry base.

Step 12

Sprinkle the flaked almonds and wall nuts on top.

Step 13

Bake at 200 degrees celsius for 30 minutes till done.

Step 14

Remove the cake from the oven, allow it to cool, then remove the cake from the tin.

Step 15

Pastry chocolate cake is ready. Cut into fingers and serve.
