Step 1

Add 1 cup of grated coconut, crushed cumin seeds and salt to fine rice powder and mix well.

Step 2

Pour hot water little by little and knead it to make a smooth dough.

Step 3

Make a number of small balls from the above dough.

Step 4

:- You can make lot of balls from 3 cups of rice powder. However, make sure the ball isn`t too big.

Step 5

Place a big kadai on the stove and add 5 cups of water into that.

Step 6

Allow it to boil.

Step 7

Add the remaining grated coconut into the boiling water along with a little salt.

Step 8

Once the water is boiling high, put the small balls into it and allow it to boil for another 2 - 3 mins.

Step 9

Allow it to cool.

Step 10

:- Serve with chicken curry.

Step 11

:- For better taste, you can add coconut milk also to the boiling water.


Do we need to roast the rice powder?

It came out very well,liked it very much.. ground garlic pod will enhance the taste


Easy to make and it came very good


Same as my mum makes, except she grinds garlic and cumin together and add to dough.


Wonderful recipe!!!! Liked it very much. Suggest that one garlic pod during grinding would give much more taste. Anyway thanks for sharing the recipe.
