Step 1

Heat gingelly oil, splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add thairumolagu and fry again.

Step 2

Put this fried item in a pressure pan and add curry leaves.

Step 3

Soak tamarind in water and squeeze out water.

Step 4

Make 2 cups of tamarind water.

Step 5

Add tamarind water to the pan.

Step 6

Add turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida to pan.

Step 7

When the mixture gets boiled, add rice and pressure cook it.

Step 8

For better taste, groundnut may also be added while doing the 1st step.

Step 9

Podiyarisi pongal v brahmin special, a tasty breakfast is ready.
