This ladoo is traditionally made on the occasion of karthigai deepam the light festival in tamil nadu. Pori Urundai is a nostalgic dish that never leaves your memory. In olden times this sweet dish was very popular with street vendors. Now the sweet has almost vanished. But memories are still fresh with the crunchy crispy sweet snack. Flavoring with cardamom is optional. A thick jaggery syrup is prepared and puffed rice is mixed in the sweet syrup and made to balls. Thus the crunchy sweet is ready to be served.   • For preparing the crunchy snack, first boil jaggery in water and boil it to one string consistency.
  • When you drop the syrup in water see that you can make a round ball. That is the perfect condition to remove from flame.
  • Transfer the syrup to a bowl and add puffed rice or pori and mix it with the help of a ladle before it gets too hard to stir.
  • Now just grease your palms with water and make small ladoos and serve.
