Wash the beans and soak in water overnight.
Next day, drain thoroughly.
Heat the oil in a pressure cooker.
Add the onions and garlic and fry for 1 or 2 minute.
Add the chilli powder and salt and mix well to heat the chilli powder(low flame).
Add the tomatoes and fry for 1 - 2 mins, till it is done well.
Add the beans and 6 cups of water and cook in a pressure cooker till done well.
Add the cleaned paalak leaves to it.
Add the dal also (both if used).
Cool to room temperature.
Blend in a blender to a smooth puree.
:- Do not strain.
Add lemon juice. Mix well.
Garnish with very finally chopped coriander leaves.
:- Serve hot.
:- Excellent for diet conscious and diabetic.
:- There can be different variations to this v by adding pasta or mixture of finally chopped vegetables. For non vegetarians, cooked chicken pieces can be added. This will change the calorie value.
