Step 1

Cook rice and see to it that each grain is separate.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 3

Add red chillies, Bengal gram, black gram, mustard seeds, groundnuts and cashews.

Step 4

When the mustard seeds splutter, add asafoetida, curry leaves and green chillies & grated ginger.

Step 5

Add tamarind paste and turmeric powder.

Step 6

When the tamarind paste cooks and starts to leave oil, switch off the flame.

Step 7

Add salt.

Step 8

Add this mixture to the already cooked rice along with the sesame powder.

Step 9

:- Need not be served hot.
:- Do not keep it in the fridge as the taste shall be lost.
