Ingredients

Directions

Step 1

Pressure cook dhal, separate dhal and dhal water. Keep it aside.

Step 2

Heat ghee in a pan.

Step 3

Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 4

Add fenugreek seeds and red chillies.

Step 5

Add garlic and fry on medium flame for 1 minute.

Step 6

Add tomatoes and allow it to cook.

Step 7

Add tamarind juice, cooked dhal, turmeric, pepper and cumin powder, asafotedia, salt, cilantro and curry leaves.

Step 8

Allow the rasam to boil for 3 mins.

Step 9

Finally, add dhal water and when the rasam starts to boil again, switch off the fire.
