Step 1

Pressure cook dal upto 3 - 4 whistles.

Step 2

Mash the dal well and keep it aside.

Step 3

Heat a tsp of ghee.

Step 4

Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 5

Add asafoetida and saute it.

Step 6

Add cut tomatoes, curry leaves and green chillies.

Step 7

Cover and cook, till the tomatoes are done.

Step 8

Add the mashed dal and mix well.

Step 9

:- Serve hot with rice or rotis.

Slightly different than any usual daal but still pretty good over all....... it definitely has some nice taste.... more south indian flavor.
