Step 1

Soak tamarind in one cup water and take the extract.

Step 2

Cook yellow split peas(thuvara parippu)well in two cup water with enough salt and keep it aside.

Step 3

Roast black pepper, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and fenugreek seeds till the aroma comes out and grind it to powder.

Step 4

Heat oil in another pan, add oil and splutter mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves. Add crushed garlic and turmeric powder. Add the ground powder.

Step 5

Add cooked thuvara parippu and tamarind water and 1 cup water to it and let it boil.

Step 6

Add coriander leaves. Rasam is ready.
