Directions

Step 1

For preparing Vendakka Puli (Palakkadan Style), first saute coriander and red chilly in 1 tbsp oil.

Step 2

Add fenugreek and saute till it turns golden brown.

Step 3

Grind this with coconut and shallots.

Step 4

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.

Step 5

Saute ladies finger.

Step 6

Add tamarind juice and salt.

Step 7

Once it cooks, add the ground masala and boil.

Step 8

Garnish with spluttered mustard, finely chopped shallots, red chilly and curry leaves.

Step 9

:- Vendakka puli tastes better the next day.

Can i use big onion instead of small onions

I tried this curry. very yummy. I also tried another version by roasting the coconut and shallots and then grinding. That is even more delicious and gives a rich brown colour.
