Mix the maida, baking powder, sugar and required water along with the beaten egg and cardamom seeds.
Make it into a tight dough. Keep it aside for 1 - 2 hours.
Divide the dough into 8 - 10 equal portions.
Shape the dough roughly like a square and run a sharp knife over the formed pieces to form two deep cuts like a cross.
Fry these in the oil till they are golden brown.
Drain the excess oil from Vettu Cake with a paper towel.
:- Serve Vettu Cake with tea as a snack.
