Ramadan Food : As per the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is observed in the ninth month. The fasting lasts from morning sunrise till sunset. Neither food nor drink is consumed and mind should be kept pure during Ramadan days. Food served before sunrise is called suhoor and food after sunset is termed iftar. Food taken at suhoor should be healthy enough to provide energy and nourishment throughout the day time. Our site provides a good range of tasty Malabar snacks like Mutta Kizhi, Mutta Marachath, Pathiri, Banana Coconut Fritters, Coconut Dates Fritters, Pazham Nirachathu, Unnakai, Ulli Vada etc that can be served as Iftar snack. Sweet dishes like Vermicelli Payasam, Carrot Mutta Pola etc are worth mentioning. There ia a Ramzan Special Nombu Kanji which can be served during iftar . This spicy gruel made with rice, meat and mild spices is very delicious and gives relief from tiredness after fasting. At the end of Ramadan month, Muslims observe the festival of fast-breaking called Eid-al-Fitr. Malabar Chicken Biriyani, Mutton Biriyani, Ghee Rice etc are some of our festive dishes.
