  1. For preparing the healthy, delicious dish first mix together the finely chopped cabbage, onions, chillies, grated coconut, turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai. Add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  3. Then add dry red chillies and curry leaves to it.
  4. Now add the mixture into the kadai and allow to cook it on low flame.
  5. Stir in between and make sure that the thoran does not stick to bottom. Sticking to bottom of pan imparts a smoky flavor to dish and will destroy the rich flavor.
  6. When the cabbage is cooked well, remove from flame. Also make sure that cabbage is not over cooked. Serve the thoran dish with hot rice for noon day meals.
