  • Chicken/Mutton bones – 1cup
  • Red gram(Thuvaraparippu) – 1/2cup
  • Bengal gram(Kadalaparippu) – 1/2cup
  • Onions(chopped) – 1/4cup
  • Tomato(big chunks) – 1/2cup
  • Ginger(made fresh) –
  • Bay leaf(Vazhana/Karuga ela) – 1no
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta) – 1″stick
  • Cloves(Grambu) – 1
  • Onions(chopped) – 1/2cup
  • Tomatoes(chopped) – 1/4cup
  • Brinjal(Vazhuthananga) – 2small
  • Raw mango(big chunks) – 4nos
  • Curry leaves(Few) –
  • Chilly powder – 1tbsp
  • Coriander powder 2tbsp
  • Coriander leaves(For garnishing) –

  1. Measure equal amount of both dals and pressure cook unto four whistles along with mutton or chicken bones, 1/4 cup onions, ginger-garlic paste, half cup tomato (sliced into big chunks) and bay leaf. Cook and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Saute cinnamon, clove and curry leaves.
  3. Add chopped half cup onions and tomatoes and saute well.
  4. When it is done, add chilly powder and coriander powder.
  5. Add brinjal and cook, until it becomes tender.
  6. Stir in mango chunks. Add the previously cooked dal and mutton mixture. Simmer for 10 mins.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.:- Serve Clalna dish hot with Biriyani.
