Chicken Cafreal

Chicken Cafreal is one such dish, very unique in preparation with lots of coriander leaves, lime juice and other spicy flavored ingredients giving a green color tinge to the dish.   • Chicken(cut into pieces) – 500g
  • Salt(As reqd) –
  • Lemon juice – 2lime
  • Coriander leaves(A bunch) –
  • Ginger 1inch
  • Garlic cloves 10nos
  • Garam masala powder – 2tsp
  • Green chillies 6nos
  • Onions – 2nos
  • Star anise(Thakkolam) – 2nos
  • Oil(As reqd) –
  • For garnishing: –
  • Onions(sliced into rings) – 2nos
  • Tomatoes(sliced) – 2nos
  • Potatoes(sliced and fried) – 2nos
  • Lemon(sliced) – 2nos
  1. For preparing Chicken Cafreal, marinate the chicken pieces with a mixture of salt and lime juice. Keep chicken pieces aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Grind the remaining ingredients: coriander leaaves, ginger, garlic, garam masala powder, green chillies, onion and star anise to a fine paste.
  3. Apply the masala paste onto the chicken pieces and marinate the chicken for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the marinated chicken pieces.
  5. Cover with a lid and fry in low flame until done.
  6. Garnish with onion rings, slices of tomatoes, potato slices and lemon wedges.
  7. :- Serve Chicken Cafreal hot with rice.
