Ingredients
  • Chicken – 1kg
  • Red chillies(Kollamulaku) – 5nos
  • Black pepper – 1 1/2tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1/4tsp
  • Black jeera – 1/4tsp
  • Cloves(Grambu) – 4nos
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta) – 1no
  • Cardamom(Elakka) – 2nos
  • Ginger(thinly sliced) – 2tsp
  • garlic 2tsp
  • Cashew nuts(soaked in water) – 10nos
  • Raisins(Onakka munthiri) – 10nos
  • Tomato(diced) – 2nos
  • Onion(thinly sliced) – 3nos
  • Salt(As reqd) –
  • Oil 1
  • Coriander leaves(A bunch) –
Instructions
  1. Marinate the chicken with some salt and turmeric powder for 30 mins.
  2. Make a powder of red chillies, black pepper, mustard seeds, black jeera, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  3. Mix this masala powder with a little water.
  4. Grind the cashews and raisins together and set aside.
  5. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  6. Saute onion, till brown.
  7. Add garlic and ginger and saute for a min.
  8. Add the masala paste and stir, till the oil separates.
  9. Add the diced tomato and stir well for 2 mins.
  10. Add the marinated chicken and let the chicken get coated well with the masala.
  11. Add 1 1/2 cups of water and salt.
  12. Cover and cook on a medium heat, till the chicken is well done.
  13. Add the cashew and kismis paste and remove from heat.
  14. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  15. :- Serve with palappam, vellappam or chappathi.
