Indian Coffee House Style Beetroot Masala Dosa is a traditional South Inidan cripy , thin dosa with the filling inside served as a breakfast. Beetroot Masala Dosa is a healthy twist to your regular dosa with all the goodness of beetroot. This Dosa recipe is prepared in the same way except for the dosa filling which includes beetroot in generous amount. This South Indian dosa recipe looks incredibly good when it is presented. For dosa filling, you need to pressure cook beetroot along with some potatoes. For tadka, add mustard seeds in a pan along with some urad dal and mix the cooked dosa filing mixture. Spread it in the center of dosa and roll them up. So many variations can be made in a basic masala dosa. You could use butter or ghee instead of oil. This is the best option for kids to make them eat different vegetables through dosa. This masala dosa can be served with Coconut chutney, Spicy Onion chutney, mint chutney and sambar whichever of your choice. Instructions
  1. Heat Oil in a Cheenachatti and add Mustard seeds and Blackgram Dhal into this hot Oil. When the Mustard seeds are burst, add chopped Ginger and Green Chilli and stir it.
  2. Then add chopped Onion, Curry leaves and Green Peas and stir it well.
  3. When colour of the Onion and Green Peas turns into golden/brown, add Red Chilli powder, Turmeric powder and Salt. After about 2 – 3 minutes, add the grated Beetroot also and stir the mix properly.
  4. Add Cooked and smashed Potato into this mix and stir it further. Masala for the Beetroot Masala Dosa is ready.
  5. Heat Dosakkal (Dosa making Stone) and apply some Oil on the stone and pour the Dosa batter and spread the batter in round shape.
  6. When Dosa batter is cooked, apply some more Oil on the Dosa and about one big spoon Masala (which is already prepared and kept separately) and spread it on the Dosa.
  7. After one or two minutes, fold the Dosa and take it out from the Dosakkal and keep in a serving plate. Beetroot Masala Dosa (Indian Coffee House Style ICH) is ready. This Dosa can serve with Coconut/ Onion/Green Chutney, Sambar etc.
