For tempering:
  1. Boil tomatoes in water and remove the skin. Crush the tomatoes.
  2. Heat the tomatoes with crushed garlic, green chillies, coriander leaves and pepper powder for 1 minute.
  3. Add tamarind water and rasam powder and boil the mixture again.
  4. Add salt as per choice(add bit sugar for better taste).
  5. Heat a pan and splutter mustard seeds, fenugreek, curry leaves, garlic, red chillies, small onion and asafoetida. Add the mixture to the rasam.
