  • Rice flour – 250g
  • Coconut(grated) – 1/2cup
  • Jaggery(crushed, Sharkara) – 125g
  • Cardamom powder(Elakka podi) – 1tsp
  1. For preparing modaks, cook the coconut, jaggery and cardamom adding some water in low flame till thick.
  2. Boil 200 ml of water and add to it the flour, a little at a time, stirring continuously and cook in low flame till the mixture turns dry.
  3. Remove from flame, add 1/2 tbsp oil and knead to a smooth dough.
  4. Divide the flour and the coconut mixture into equal number of portions, form each dough into a cup, stuff with coconut mixture and shape into a pyramid, sealing the edges well.
  5. Steam cook for 10-15 mts and serve either hot or cold.
  6. Modaks is ready.
