  1. For preparing simple sponge cake, sift maida 3 times to free it from lumps or air. Keep it aside.
  2. Melt butter on low heat and keep it aside.
  3. Take a bowl and break the eggs. Add in castor sugar and beat it well till fluffy.
  4. Gently fold in the maida.
  5. Add the melted butter and fold it in.
  6. Pour the batter into a baking tin and bake it for 20 to 30 minutes in a preheated oven of 200 celsius.
  7. Remove it from the oven and allow it to cool.
  8. Simple sponge cake is ready. Serve with tea as a snack.
